Serviteur

“It will be my absolute pleasure to serve you.”

When William suddenly finds himself the owner of a living, breathing human being, he has no idea what to do. Setting the man free is the obvious course of action, but what if the blonde Serviteur has no desire for freedom, and only wants one thing—to please his new master?

William paid no mind to the fact that the grand prize of the international poker competition he signed up for was a mystery. He doubted a prize worth over five hundred thousand dollars could disappoint him, anyway. If it sucked, he could always sell it and use the money to pay his mom’s mortgage and buy himself a car. Little did he know, the night of debauchery he was looking forward to would soon become a distant fantasy, as his victory would turn his life upside down—and make him reconsider his ‘no dudes’ policy—in the most unexpected of ways.

A turned gay Grumpy & Sunshine story about a reluctant master with a secret heart of gold and a devoted slave with a beautiful soul. It explores the blurry concepts of consent and freedom in a world where some humans are bred and raised as luxury companions for the wealthiest members of society. Themes include: love, friendship, sex, ethical dilemmas, guilt, brainwashing, anxiety, trauma, and manipulation.

Author’s Note

One of the things I enjoyed the most about writing this story is the dynamic between the two men. Although Adathan was born and raised to serve, as the story progresses, we find ourselves wondering who truly is a slave to the other. I loved exploring the blurry concepts of freedom and consent in a world where some humans are bred and trained to become luxury companions for the wealthiest members of society.

Chapter 1: Mysterious Prize

“What happened? Are you okay?” Oliver immediately asks.

“They gave me a person,” William whispers as he leans against the corridor wall, his fingers squeezing his phone so tight his hand starts trembling.

“Huh?”

“The prize,” he hisses. “Remember the ridiculous rumor about rich dudes owning people who were trained all their lives to serve them? It wasn’t a rumor.”

“Are you drunk?”

“I’m not drunk!” William says a little too loud. He wishes he was. Drinking sounds just about perfect right now. He’ll raid the mini bar as soon as he sets foot back into the room. “I swear I’m telling the truth, man. I don’t know what to do.”

“They gave you a person? For real?”

“Yes!”

“And you accepted?”

William’s hair stands on end as a surge of shame hits him. “Dude. If I refused, they were going to give him to Ronan. You should have seen the way he was looking at him. His name is Adathan, by the way. He’s a whole ass person, but he thinks he isn’t. He’s so brainwashed. He keeps trying to make me read his fucking instruction manual. He has an instruction manual! This is so fucked up. Surely, I’m dreaming–”

“Okay, calm down. We’ll find a solution. I’ll do some research online—what’s the company called again?”

“I don’t know the company name, but they call him a Serviteur. It’s French for servant.”
